Let Your Kids Fight The Evil Cavity-Causing Sorceress

Your child’s smartphone or tablet could be another essential tool to help them establish effective dental hygiene habits. A mobile app called Toothsavers was introduced in 2014 by a coalition of organizations dedicated to public health.

In the intriguing Toothsavers game (designed for ages 3 – 6) children try to save characters from an evil sorceress who inflicts cavities and other detrimental mouth miseries on residents of her kingdom. Players use their fingers to ‘clean’ the characters’ teeth in the game. The game is designed to encourage children to brush correctly for two minutes, two times a day and create awareness in young children of the importance of proper oral hygiene.

Toothsavers was created by the American Dental Association and Ad Council in partnership with 35 other organizations.

“Mobile technology plays a major role in influencing young people’s behavior and is a great fit for this campaign. We’re thrilled to release our first mobile game, which represents our ongoing efforts to use technology to promote health, education and well-being. We look forward to using this app to help kids maintain healthy oral health habits, and have fun while doing it!Peggy Conlon, president and CEO of the Ad Council. 1

The game allows kids to time and track their toothbrushing and even triggers alerts to remind users when it’s time to brush. As part of the game, users watch fun, two-minute instructional videos while they brush their teeth in the real world. A new character is unlocked each day a player watches a video while brushing morning and night. The free app can be downloaded at the App Store, Google Play, and at http://2min2x.org/.

In addition to proper toothbrushing, establishing a relationship with a trusted family dentist is important for keeping kid’s smiles healthy. If you are looking for a friendly and gentle family dentist in the Chesterfield area, we invite you to schedule a consultation. We can advise you on dental issues relevant to our youngest patients including thumb-sucking, sealants, mouth protection for children’s sports, orthodontia, and fluoride supplementation.

In addition to children’s dentistry, at Town and Country Cosmetic Dentistry and Implant Center we offer innovative cosmetic dental procedures for improving smiles for our valued patients of all ages. Here are some of the dental services we offer:
